I was reading ur blog for the whole day now. I am also a firm beleiver in Organic traffic especially from google. I agree with you 100% that a mini-site easily distracts a user where most landing page can do the job. I strongly suggest those that do would like to target a niche long term (especially if they like the niche and talk in the niche's language) to go for sites.
