How Affiliate Marketers Can Relate To Fight Club

If not the favorite, Fight Club is one of my favorite movies of all time. And with good reason. The book was well written and the movie followed suit. With that said, here's how it applies to you fine people.
The narrator in the story, of course, represents the you that participates in the daily grind of life. You work tirelessly for the same pay, dreaming of a better life but fearing the uncertain. The fact that you work so hard with so little reward is driving you crazy, so crazy that you seek out therapeutic ways to relieve your stress: group internet meetings, finding your power animal and, of course, you split personalities. Now there's the daily grind you and the you that works tirelessly night after night trying to find a way out until you finally succeed (Tyler Durden).
Marla Singer (pictured above, for the Fight Club illiterate) is the affiliate who sees your formula for success and decides to try to do the same exact thing, perhaps for different reasons but none the less, ruining it for you. Perhaps you'll try to come to an agreement with this affiliate and use different search engines to try to keep off of each other's toes, but in the end, you know they're not going to listen. They must be stopped.
The Fight Club itself represents your posse, your closest friends, your connections that help you figure out inside secrets, get what you need to get what you really want, which is freedom. You don't tell people about what you do in an effort to preserve it and maintain the appearance that you lead a normal daily life. Soap represents your generic product to fund your ruthless empire. Careful, your posse might turn on you. :]
In the end, you'll get what you want and figure out how to own that Marla character as well. You may cause some Mayhem (haha) in the process, but in the end, everything will work itself out and the Pixies will play and everything will be beautiful. OK, maybe not but it wouldn't suck.

Fight club rocked, and you’re absolutely right – once the Pixies play, you know that everything’s gonna be ok.
If it wasn’t for low-hanging fruit, I’d starve.
