So far, Wes appears to be a fairly honest person and although, you guys bring up a good point about hosting your own software, you have to consider the cost involve with doing that. I myself am new at this aff marketing game and having this free is a blessing. If I do well, yea, I’ll have more options, but for those that are just starting, hey, these guys at tracking202 are providing good vids and offers a killer product for FREE.

Just my two cents.

Yeah, both great points. I agree that it seems more risky unless you can host it on your own server or unless a giant is the one providing the service. Despite the best intentions of the service provider, the end-user is just more hesitant to store financial credentials/data on the site of a small company. It sucks for that company but it’s reality, and in the end, that’s what matters.

By day I still work at a SEO/SEM agency and you would not believe the number of clients we get that refuse to install GA so we can track results. Many of our clients have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars on tracking software such as omniture just because its in house.

It may not be easy but if you sell the package for a single price or for a leased install many more of us will bite. Also Jonathan Volk is claiming that his new Affiliate Unleashed program that is starting soon will provide tracking similar to T202, just something to keep in mind.

Sorry to bug you about the post but early this week everyone had the same post about that guy gaming adwords and then the T202 stuff.. I just wouldn’t want to see his as a new trend.

Hey Beer,

Scott was actually first to the punch, the review by UberAffiliate was actually unexpected, we had no idea he was going to do that. It of course was a nice of him to do that, but Scott was actually before UberAffiliate. Not that it is much important but just to clarify!

We are already debating back and forth within T202 of doing the stand-a-lone package, nothing is for sure it is a hard call with long-term impacts both good and bad, so we are going to be discussing it for a long time to make sure everything is done the best possible way.

@Beer: The review was requested by the same guy and Paul and I just happened to post it on the same day. That’s about it.

Yeah, making a stand-alone version would rule out a lot of the risk factors involved with pushing your data to someone else’s server but that would require a whole different level and type of support. We’ll see which direction they choose to go in.

Whats up with you having the same post topic on the same day as UberAffiliate? It seems to be a recent trend among the blogers I visit to all talk about the same thing whats up with that?

T202 is a great service but before I use it they need to make a standalone version to install on my own server.
