My buddy Javier runs a site called The Bill Manager (http://www.thebillmanager.com) and the site does exactly what its name implies. You sign up, plug in your monthly bills and expenses and the site will email you with reminders. On top of that, it provides you with a clean looking calendar to look at on a daily basis. The idea of this site is beautiful and I must annoy Javier with how much I think he should do with it, but part of its beauty is in its simplicity.

By itself, the site functions very well and as the title of this post implies, it's already a good idea. Currently, the site is monetized purely by Google Adsense and organic growth is slow and steady at less than ten users a day.

What Javier has done recently, however, has taken the monetization of TBM to the next level. Given the category of the site (finance), it's pretty easy to start offering affiliate offers here and there on the site. That's exactly what Javier has done. If you sign up, you'll notice the site offers you a tip bar that changes with each page load. On several of the tips, you'll find a link to a Payday Loan offer and other related offers.

Not only does TBM offer Payday Loan links on its tool tips, but in its email reminders to customers, it links to offers as well.

The genius here is that Javier has focused in on what the site is about and the mindset of the user. When someone goes to manage their bills, chances are that they already have that dreaded question in mind - "how am I going to pay these bills in time before payday?" and then Bam! They have their answer.

My question to you is: how can you improve on what you already have to generate more income? Improving on an idea that is already good isn't too difficult to do if you use your wit. John Chow probably knows that fact better than anyone. If you read his post Getting Traffic Is Half The Battle, you'll see he has the same amount of traffic and yet his income just keeps going up. In the post, John says:

If you’re getting decent traffic from your blog but not making much money, then work on optimizing the revenue mix. Can your blog handle more ads? How about affiliate programs? Are you using every possible methods to make money online or are you still living by the Google?

Now of course this applies mainly to blogs rather than just landing pages or websites in general, but the idea remains the same. Instead of trying to just get tons more traffic, what can you do with the traffic you're already getting? Answer that can you can double your income or better.
